5 Good Things That Happened To Me In 2017.

In all honesty this year has been without a doubt the hardest year for me. From my anxiety being worse than its ever been, to my depression taking over my life.. However there have been some breakthrough moments, and happy days this year that will stick with me forever. Although I have had a very difficult year, I wanted to spread a little positivity so I'm going to concentrate on some of the good things that have happened to me in the last 12 months.

Travelling- This year has been the year that I majorly stepped out of my comfort zone. At the beginning of the year I went to London with my best friend for a 5 day holiday, to spending a week in Spain, to spending 2 months in new Zealand. Travelling is something that I love to do but my anxiety doesn't always make it easy for me. I was most worried about going to London. Crowds of people, busy streets... Not my idea of fun! However it turned out to be one of my favourite trips away and I'm sOoO proud of myself because I refused to let my anxiety stop me.

Realising the importance of self care- This year I said fuck yes to looking after my self. Not only does self care help improve my mental health, it has helped me seriously grow as a person. You can read all about my self care methods and tips here.

Finally Realising I needed to get professional help.

Seeing a therapist- When it comes to feelings, I am terrible at speaking them out loud, so when I finally gave in and made the decision to speak to someone about my mental health I was bloody proud of myself. If you know me, you'll know this is a massive deal for me. I'm the type of person that gets too anxious to talk to people at family gatherings.  At the time it didn't feel like it was the right thing to do for me personally, however deep down I knew it would benefit me in the long run so I went ahead and did it.

Spending my 21st birthday in new Zealand- This one kind of relates to travelling! I was so proud of myself for travelling for 3 days straight to new Zealand. Travelling isn't easy for me, so to travel to the other side of the world was a big deal. Not only did I ace travelling, I also did things there that I would never in a million years expect my anxious self to do. I did a bungee, Went to a concert!? spent a night in a city clubbing, and going out every single day and socialising with people. I spent my 21st there with my best friend, and it was made so special. For once I didn't feel sad. I laughed constantly, and drank lots of cocktails.

Doing more of what makes me happy- Seeing my friends, pampering myself, starting a blog, spending time with family, have Netflix days in bed (maybe a few too many), ditching a toxic relationship, and working out more are just a few things that I have done for myself.

So there they are, 5 good things that have happened to me in 2017. It has been a rollercoaster of a year but it is so important to try and look past that and remember all of the good things that have happened and the achievements you have made. Its so easy to loose yourself in the bad things that are happening, but just remember you are strong and even if it doesn't feel like it, you have accomplished so much. What is something that you are proud of this year? I'd love to know in the comment section.
